Qualifications, Training & Education

NEBOSH General Certificate in Health & SafetyISO 45001 or similar recognised standard certification

Experience

Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Health and Safety practitioner.Experience of management systems and achieving third party certification to a recognised standard such as ISO 45001.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

Proactively and continually assess the operations of the Group from a Health and Safety perspective, recommending appropriate systems of risk management and elimination.Attend regular SHEQ meetings for all business areas taking a lead on all Health and Safety mattersEnsure the Group complies with its legal obligations with regards to Health and Safety, advising the Directors, SMT and Managers of their obligations, as well as monitoring compliance.Report on Group Health and Safety obligations, including accidents, incidents, near misses and Improvement Opportunities.Complete regular Site Health and Safety Inspections of facilities, providing reports to relevant managers.

Overall purpose: to ensure the Company meets its obligations under Health and Safety law and is fully compliant with all relevant regulations by developing, implementing, maintaining and reviewing a robust Health and Safety management system, policies and procedures, and providing expert advice on all aspects of Health and Safety.

Key responsibilities and Accountabilities:

The Company operates recycling sites as well as an LGV lorry fleet. There are circa 150 staff, the majority of which are involved in these operations, working around plant, equipment and lorries. The post requires working with Managers, Supervisors, and wider teams to ensure effective compliance with both Legislation and the Company’s Health and Safety management system.

The primary focus of the post is Health and Safety, although as a member of a small team, you will also be required to support the Environmental and Quality objectives of the Company Management System and assist other members of the team to be able to meet their objectives.

Experience of dealing with external enforcing bodies such as HSE, Environmental Health, Local Authorities.
