Naval Architect

Location: London or Southampton

We are on the lookout of an experienced Naval Architect to join a company leading the way with Rotor Sail systems.

Job:

To lead the design for the integration of Rotor Sail systems onto retrofit and new build ships

Education / Qualifications:
• Master's degree in Naval Architecture or equivalent
• Actively working towards corporate membership of RINA (advantageous)

Knowledge and Experience
• 7+ years as a Naval Architect
• Experience of design and classification of ship structures and general arrangements across a range of ship types
• Experienced with classification and product Type Approval requirements for Marine Equipment
• Strong understanding of vessel propulsion and performance analysis from both a practical and analytical perspective
• Experienced in hydro-dynamics of below the water line effects, rudder/ propeller/ hull
• Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD

• Ability to make clear recommendations grounded in fact
• Clear written English
• Strong verbal communication skills, including adapting to the audience
• Willingness to travel: for business meetings with ship owners and designers; occasional travel for longer periods (3-4 weeks) for first-in-kind implementations may also be necessary
